Water is a universal solvent that is needed in almost every activity. As relating to human existence, every human being can’t stay without water.

However, poor access to good water has posed a major setback to the proper existence of humans as seen mostly in rural areas.

This as reported by Unicef Nigeria ” Intake of Bad water results in increased vulnerability to water-borne diseases, including diarrhoea which leads to deaths of more than 70,000 children under 5 annually”

How do we cope when almost all suburb environment dwellers don’t know really why they should cultivate the proper intake of good water.

It is noteworthy that the provision of equitable access to good water and eradication of open defecation in rural areas (mostly in riverine settings), will bring fruition to the improvement of the standard of living in those affected areas.

Everyone – urban or rural dwellers must take into good notes WHY Proper intake of good water is important to health.

1.Production and Formation of Saliva.

Saliva, usually referred to as spit, is an extracellular fluid produced and secreted by salivary glands in the mouth. Wikipedia 2020.

The Saliva is made up of 99.5% water and it helps in the digestion of food, through the production of enzymes responsible for the breaking down of starches and fats.

Moreover, it aids in the prevention of tooth decay.

Water is needed by the body in the production of the saliva.

2.Blood Production and circulation.

The Human Blood comprises 55% Plasma and about 90% of plasma is water.

A good intake of water increases the circulation of blood in the human body. It is medically sound for one to take water (Hot or cold) frequently- especially when he/she is thirsty.

This also helps to deliver oxygen in the body.

3.Disease/Sickness Prevention.

A good intake of water helps to keep the body free from sickness. As the intake of bad or contaminated water can lead to diarrhoea.

Medical findings have proven that the intake of water helps to keep one from Dehydration, which triggers Headache and Migraine in some people.

Thus, helping them cool down on some headache symptoms.

4.Kidney Preservation and Damage Prevention.

Water is absorbed into the body as Body fluids… and the kidneys are charged with the regulation of such fluids in the human body.

With little or no water in the body, there will be a non-dilution of mineral crystals capable of causing Kidney Stones and other related problems.

5.Prevention of Dehydration.

As mentioned earlier, intake of water prevents the body from Dehydration(loss of water in the body) which is medically seen to be able to cause many medical others such as joint pains,  headache( in some), skin wrinkles e.t.c.

6.Digestion and Good Bowel Movements.

Proper water intake in humans leads to good digestion. The human Bowels need water to function properly.

Lack of water and intake of contaminated water may lead to indigestion, constipation, heartburns. And so on.

7.Weight Loss.
According to experts, water can increase satiety and boost your metabolic rate.

Also, a special intake of water before meals helps to introduce a sense of partial fullness to a person thereby reducing consumption of foods.

With all these Benefits of Proper intake of Good water in mind.

It is advisable that the government at Top levels and intermediate levels join hands in the provision of safe drinking water to its citizens, most especially to those residents in rural settings.

That will ensure that the masses are free from communicable diseases spread by this contaminated water.
