8 Foods that Support Kidney Functions

Kidneys are the main organ of urinary system that perform numerous functions like removal of waste products of metabolism, production of electropoietin, a hormone that regulate blood cells synthesis, electrolyte and water balance, regulation of blood pressure through angiotensin- Aldosterol system and so on.

With essential functions, you can not live without kidneys. Therefore, you need to take care of yourself, eat food that improves your kidney functions. But before consuming these foods, it is very beneficial to speak to your  midwife or doctor, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or with pre-existing health conditions or taking some medications.



1. Cherries

This  is a delicious red fruit. It  is an invaluable source of vitamin K, vitamin C,

folate, vitamin B6,  potassium salts and magnesium.

These  nutrients boost kidney function by making it easier and better to remove waste and water. Cherries also act as a depurative. It may surprise you to know that a given  research has shown that eating cherries over a 2-day period has been associated with a lower risk of gout attacks among people with this condition.



2.Cranberries

The constituents of cranberries  can prevent bacteria from “sticking” to the walls of the urinary tract, and studies in young women with frequent UTIs show that drinking a glass of cranberry juice daily can help reduce infections, recurrent or repeated urinary tract problems.



3. Red beans

Cooked red bean broth has been used for ages in order to improve the general health of the kidneys thanks to its rich magnesium content.Also, kidney beans   assist dissolve and flush out kidney stones.


4.Cinnamon

Cinnamon can work on certain risk factors for kidney disease, particularly diabetes, according to scientific research.

Proper or healthy management of blood sugar and blood pressure is imperative to prevent kidney disease. Yeah, cinnamon can have beneficial effects on health for the management of your blood sugar.

5. Olive oil

New research had shown that sticking to a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes,

fish, and heart-healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil can significantly reduce the risk of developing chronic kidney disease.



6. Java tea


This is equally called Orthosiphon stamineus.  This herb has been used for kidney problems for centuries. Java tea contains compounds known to increase urine flow and equally aid dissolve mineral deposits. Even current study has confirmed that this tea also has the potential to stabilize blood sugar, protect antioxidants and stabilize blood pressure.



7. Onions and garlic


Flavonoids including quercetin is contained in onions and garlic.  A study by Chinese laboratory on a model of adenine-induced chronic kidney disease in rats, it was proven that  quercetin treatment improves kidney function, reduces oxidative stressors and kidney inflammation. Onions and garlic are constituents of our every day diet, therefore,  if you are eating, them, then you are helping your kidneys.

8. Water.

Water is the basic requisite of life, yet many fail to take adequate water daily.

Taking sufficient water will help your kidneys to function well and handle wastes with ease. Never neglect the power of water to life.
