Sometimes ago, there was a little boy who wanted to meet God. knowing that it was a long trip to where God lived, so he prepared very well — packing his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and began his journey. When he had traveled about four blocks, he ran into an old woman — sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons.
The boy decided to rest for a while. He sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. Being thirsty, he decided to take some drink. But as he began to drink from his root beer, he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, and he offered her a Twinkie. Gratefully, she accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so entertaining that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Similarly, she smiled again at him. The lad was highly delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never had deep conservation.
As it began to get darker, the boy noticed how tired he was, and he got up to go. But before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman and hugged her. She equally gave him her biggest smile ever. The boy finally left. And when the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was amazed by the rays of happiness on his face. “Son,what made you so happy today?” His mother asked him,
He politely replied, ” Mum, I had lunch with God.” But, before his mother could cut in, he added, “Mum,guess? She got the most beautiful smile ever seen in my life!”
Similarly, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the glows of peace on her face and he questioned, “Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?” The old woman warmly replied, “Today,I ate Twinkies in the park with God.” But, before her son could talk more, she added, “You know, he’s much younger than I expected.”
Moral: God is everywhere: we are ‘‘imago Dei’’(miniature Gods) as the Catholic Catechism in latin said.
We need to share our happiness and make others smile to feel God in us. Whatever comes your way, never fail to do good. It pays! I am a living testimony, most of my burdens had been taken away from me while doing good to others .
No matter what happens, be strong: if life presents you with a thousand reasons to cry, show it that you have a thousand reasons or more to smile.
