On Wednesday May 6th German councilor; Angela Merkel urged the Bundesliga to resume, she said at a press conference; the play would resume as long as teams adhere strictly to the safety measures. The Bundesliga have been on indefinite postponement since mid February due to Covid-19 crisis.
Bundesliga competition will begin again on May 16, the German football association (DFL) has announced, with football returning to the calendar. The testing of players has already begun with 10 players testing positive so far.
The resumption plan outlined by DFL president Christian Seifert involves six bundesliga games taking place on the opening day being Saturday, with Borussia Dortmunds derby with Schalke 04 among them, defending champions Bayern Munich will be back on action a day later, as they take in a trip to Union Berlin.
The latest round of matches in the German top-flight will be successfully completed Monday May 18, when Werder Bremen play host to Bayer Leverkusen. The final matchday of the 2019-20 campaign competition is scheduled for the weekend of June 27-28. Bayern Munich is currently on top of the table with Borussia Dortmund being second. The Bundesliga still have about 9 sets of features still remaining for the 2019/2020 season to come to an end.
