We must keep in our mind that education is only the inheritance that can never end or disappear when someone gets it.
But there is a great challenge that most children do not know the advantage of education until they mature enough and the time is not available for them to start getting it. It’s scientifically proven that young people have more craving memory capacity than elder ones, Thus it is advised to take our child early before their brains have occupied with other things. It’s the duty of teachers, parents and community at large to support children in order to get desired fruits of their education, improving low academic performances.
The following are ways on how to improve our child’s academic performance:
1.Create a positive attitude about education for your child .
Find the ways which will make your child feel that education is something which is very essential to him. Be committed to boost your child’s self esteem and academic performance. Because most of child thinks that education as torture due to the nature of it like waking up early, being far from parents, and punishment they get when disobey any school role. This makes most children not love to be students and they cry, refusing to go to school. So ways that will remove their negative altitude must be done.
2. Special services needed at school.
Parents must try their best to give their child all needed services to avoid his disturbance at school like paying school fees at appropriate time, buying pens, pencils, rubber rulers and exercise books.
enough pocket money especially for those who stay at boarding school. This will increase the learning confidence of the child at school.
3. Create friendship with teachers.
One of the most important things which most parents forget to practice is having good friendships with their children’s teachers. This will help to know the progress of their child easily at school by asking their teachers. Teachers understand better the factors affecting academic achievement. Parents should find mentors for their child at school who will guide them during school hours.
4. Knowing the school timetable of your child.
Most thing we fail is lack of awareness on our child’s school timetable. Parents’ knowledge of the school timetable is very vital because noting the most important events like examination days, will make them urge their child to increase their study habits during those days. because That studying capacity will determine the academic performance or grades of our child.
5. Know the friends of your child.
Peer groups affect the performance of a child. There are students who influence good performance of your child and others who decline his performance. So, find who must associate with your child at school hours and after school hours.
6. Attend school meetings.
Parents must be active to attend different meetings organized in their child’s school so that they can be familiar with the progress of the school. Because most issues concerning their children like factors that affect student performance in school are discussed during school meetings and possible solutions given.
7. Creating a conducive learning environment at home.
Make a timetable for your child at home and be committed to it. Make a tendency of looking to their exercise books to know their learning at school. Direct them in their homework to do them appropriately.
Create a small library at your home to increase their reading capacity. Find their favourite literature.
8. Establish home meetings annually.
Parents should be having meetings at home at least every month to know the progress, weakness and challenges their child got. This will increase the success of the child because during talking you can know and get solutions to some problems causing the child’s low academic performance.
Conclusively, most children get failure in school not because they know nothing. But because they have failed to get the guidelines which will show them the way to reach their success. We always must create confidence in our children so that they can fear nothing but to aim at success via their daily studying efforts.
