Emeka’s mother could not bear the sight of her son dying without anyone rendering help to him.
That fateful afternoon, Mrs Uche was going to ahia Eke to pick some ingredients for oha soup which is Emy’s favourite.
Emeka as a child never hesitate to do whatever his mum instruct him provided oha soup is involved. He can out of joy of receiving oha soup till hectares of farmland.
She came to Onu mmiri axis, at a distance, she felt something is really amiss as crowd gathered.
She drew closer to the scene and tried to take a glimpse of what’s really going on.
There laid a man beside the river in a pool of blood.
Emeka’s mother from onset hates seeing blood as it happened that her husband Ikemba died out of knife attack which cut him very deep causing him bled to death. She started weeping as the blood refreshed her mind of her husband’s death.
People thought she actually know the boy lying down. But she was just pitying and feeling emotional.
People start questioning her if she knew the boy.
“Madam you sabi am?” asked the first person.
“Madam, this one wey you dey cry so, na your pikin?” asked by a tattered young man believed to be drunk.
“Madam, you better no cry o o, na cult boy be this, na so them dey die like rat every time” said another young guy.
Emeka’s mother with teary eyes tried to answer their questions. “My people you won’t understand, I’m pitying his mother wherever she is” she sobs profusely.
“You people don’t know what it means to lose a child you carried for nine good months, delivered him and nurtured him till this stage” said Emeka’s mother.
“Heeey madam stop, no dey make me vex abeg, this one na son?” interrupted by a man believed to have been a victim of cult actions.
“Wetin we dey wait for sef, make we just burn this idiot so that he go go join im gang for hell fire” said another angry youth.
Emeka managed to turn as he heard “burn” to plead for mercy. At this time, the mother saw his face, behold; it was Emeka his only son. She fainted instantly.
People started cursing her…”so na you born this criminal”
“make we burn them together”
It happened that Emeka joined cult in his early secondary school days at High School Nkume when Smart told him that he cannot get beautiful girl’s attention without being a member of a strong fraternity. Smart also told him that once he becomes a member of his group, his life is assured in all angles.
Emeka had to join KKT which was a reigning group in the school. Members of KKT use to move with beautiful girls because they presume they are the ones to protect them. Emeka too, is eyeing Chidimma who has been giving him tough time. Chidimma told Emeka plainly that she cannot date a “civilian” like him who cannot protect her.
There was a cult clash in which two frats have been killing each other in different appalling manners. Some were cut into pieces with matchet some were stoned to death, some hacked with axe. But Emeka was lucky he only got shot on the head leaving part of his skull open. He’s a member of KKT fraternity which her rivalry is SOS frats…light fades.
The above story is just a fiction. The names used are fictional characters. Places mentioned are not in existence too. Then the two fraternities are fictional too.
Cultism has no impart in life. It has no value. It cannot protect you nor prevent you rather it will ruin you.
You don’t have any reason to join any secret cult.
How do you feel seeing your mother instead of crying for joy because of you after hoping for years turn to weep by your dying side?
How do you feel wasting in jail while your mates and friends are in their comfort zones with their families?
